There are two types of ways to access Briefcases:

1. The person gives you his password and his yahoo Briefcase name.

In type 1 of the Briefcase... it's pretty simple... just go to Yahoo briefcase and sign in as the y!name with the password provided. REMEMBER: don't change anything. IF you can't download that probably means bandwidth has been used up.

2. The person tells you to e-mail him/her your yahoo ID

This one is a bit tricky and is discussed in more detail next:

Briefcase Download Instructions

Basic requirement: Yahoo ID (I can't stress this enough)

If I/the person hosting manga already know your y! ID, all you have to do is express interest in downloading files currently hosted in their briefcase. When they reply with an OK you can now do the following:

1. Log on to your yahoo briefcase account.

If you're not logged in it would look like this:

it should look like this when you're logged in:

2. On the address bar, type http://asia.briefcase.yahoo.com/***username***
. . . . replace ***username*** with the y!iD that I will give you in the e-mail. Most probably iCe_scan however, my sister and I share briefcases sometimes and it's possible that it's something else. IMPOTANT YOU DO THIS WHILE YOU"RE LOGGED IN

3. The yahoo briefcase you're accessing should look like this (don't mind the 0 item I haven't uploaded yet when I screencapped:

4. If the screen says *there are no files in this folder* click refresh. That's because the cache of IE/Netscape.

5. If after refreshing there's still no files, contact me. That probably means either a) it's not uploaded or b) your name isn't included in the friends that the files could be shared with.

Splitter Instructions

The splitter depends from person to person (especially in Manga_hosterz). Personally when it's winzip I use winzip to split the archive, when it's rar I use whitsoft file splitter. And these are the instructions for that:

1. Download all the files from the folder.

2. If the file I'm sharing is in winzip there's no need to download the splitter program since winzip has it's own splitting utility, all you have to do is click on the file that has the *.zip extension and everything should be fine

3. However, if the file I'm sharing is winrar, I have not figured out how to split rar files, therefore you have to download the splitter.exe also found in the briefcase. This is what the splitter program looks like:

4. Open splitter.exe at the left portion click on the radio button that says splice.

5. In the Input area, click the (click to browse button) all files with extensions of *.001 should appear. Click the first one.

The utility should look like this after you've uploaded the *.001 file. In this case it's heart volume 2 chapter 1 by Luna Chicas.

6. Then click the SPLICE square button to the right. A whole rar file should appear on the output folder. (Same as input folder if you didn't change it)

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for all other files until all of the .001's have been converted to rar files.

8. You may now delete the *.001 files as the rar files are complete.

9. Contact me when you've finished downloading so that I can put down the files. (If no one else is sharing then it's not necessary to wait out the entire week).

10. SHARE THE MANGA :) that's what this is about.

Briefcase Upload Instructions

More detailed explanation on how to set up and upload here:

http://www.geocities.com/eirenaios/briefcase.html

1. Log on to your yahoo briefcase account. if you want a direct link go to http://briefcase.yahoo.com

2. Make sure your files are UNDER 5MB otherwise you can't upload them. If they're over 5MB split them using winzip or similar splitter programs, I have a splitter program on my briefcase on share.

3. Click add files and upload. Don't upload more than one file at a time (even though it says multiple uploads). As I said before there is a 5MB limit on sizes and 30MB limit on entire upload.

FAQ

1.How do I access your files?

just mail me at ice_scan[at]yahoo.com with this:

[rq][Manga title][volume][chapter][y!ID] on the subject line in that order. indicate volume with a v and chapter witha ch. don't forget your yahoo ID. On the content, place what manga you have and you're willing to trade. Please refer to the terms and conditions for more detailed reasons.

2. Why won't you extend for me?

Well, because there are a lot of files that I'm going to make available, if I extend it'd be dragging on the sharing forever hindering me from moving on.

3. Why Do you want to know what manga I have?

I don't want to redistribute files, as the scanlators sometimes don't want them to be redistributed and I respect that. SO I trade for them. Sort of like trading a book you've already read. It minimizes bandwidth the groups need. Although this is also done in the eMule releases. Hmmm... and recently I joined a group that does just these.

4. Why don't you create multiple Yahoo Accounts?

Uhhh.... well... That is an option... and it would be easier for all parties concerned (Especially me who gets like 20 questions on how to download from my briefcase in a day.... I practically couldn't open my mail without that dreaded HOW DO I ACCESS YOUR BRIEFCASE before T_T) but I think opening a lot of briefcases would slow down the network, and might start getting the yahoo admins to constrain upload limits in the future. However, if a lot of people get a lot of manga, there would be more people who has that manga and has time to share :) (A bit too idealistic I know...)

5. Are you the ones who scanlates these?

Currently we have no scanlations, although we have some manga that we're willing to scanlate when we get the time and the money to do so. We have some physical constraints as well since we can't have mIRC into our computers for the moment because we have firewalls and configuring mIRC for sharing is taking forever. And as my sister and I are college and highschool students, we don't have money for HTTP downloads.

6. Why haven't you replied yet?

We're busy with school. If I haven't replied within a month, that might be a problem. Mail me again. Read the terms and conditions, you may have violated them. I usually reply, I'm talkative as well as enjoy sharing manga. I check ONCE a week during weekends (GMT +8) if I'm busy.

7. When are your busy times, and free times?

Busy times are January, March, August, October. These are the times when teachers beat the hell out of me through exams. (Semesters near the equator have this cycle). I am free every April, May, November. December. Greater chances of being reached then, unless I've gone under manga and fanfic overload..
